As the name suggests, cell culture bottles are used to culture cells. According to the material, they can be divided into glass and plastic, and the bottom shape can be square, rectangular, triangular, etc. Depending on the bottle volume, there are 5 to 500ml to choose from. In addition, the surface is specially modified to allow better cell wall culture, so that the cell wall area can be divided into 25 to 175cm2.

● Different shapes of culture flasks have different uses. For cell culture, the flat bottom is usually used so that it is easy to observe under the microscope, has a clear bottom area, and the height of the cell culture fluid is relatively consistent. Therefore, when doing experiments, flat-bottomed plates are generally used for both walled and suspended cells. It is important to use flat-bottomed plates for measuring absorbance values. Pay special attention to the material.

U- or V-shaped plates are generally used when there are special requirements. For example, in immunology, when two different lymphocytes are mixed, they need to be in contact with each other to stimulate each other, so U-shaped plates are usually used because the cells will gather in a small area due to gravity. Round-bottom culture flasks are also used for isotope admixture experiments, where cells are collected with a cell collector, such as "mixed lymphocyte culture", etc. V-type is commonly used for cell killing and immunological hemagglutination experiments. Cell killing experiments can also be replaced by U-type (after adding cells, centrifugation at low speed).

● Domestic cell culture flasks generally have closed lids without inner pads, which are often used for closed culture and can ensure their airtightness; imported culture flasks have more lid styles: closed lids, polyester lids, breathable lids, spacer lids, etc. The performance of the airtight cap is the same as that of the domestic one, and the polyester cap is commonly used for open culture, which can ensure the exchange of gas in the bottle and the environment by just gently screwing the cap loose. Breathable cap is a 0.2μm hydrophobic filter membrane added to the cap to provide sterile gas exchange and reduce the risk of contamination. It is commonly used for open culture and recommended for CO2 incubator incubation, especially for experiments that require long-term incubation. The spacer cap is with a pre-cut port in the spacer, which allows the pipette to penetrate the spacer for liquid addition, aspiration or cell harvesting, reducing the chance of contamination and maintaining a closed and sterile environment in the cell culture flask.
